Our Rangelands, Our Livelihood, is Our Identity
RCI Africa is a indigenous youth led organisation established in 2019 by young people and shepherds from Karamojong pastoralist community in Northeastern Uganda, as a community based organisation and later incorporated into Not for profit organisation in 2025, dedicated to amplifying the voices of grassroots rangeland communities in the Karamoja sub-region of Uganda. The organisation empowers young people as stewards of rangelands by strengthening capacities in sustainable livelihoods and secure land tenure systems that support pastoralism and nature resilience. Through our shepherds of rangelands led movement, rooted in advocacy and collective solidarity of rights, we embed ancestral wisdom into community resource documentation, preserving and conserving this legacy for present and future generations. We use collaborative partnership with traditional leaders, women, youth, and researchers to enhance knowledge, innovation, and resilience in food systems, rangeland management and pastoralism.
